About Us
COMP began in 1982 as the Commodore Owners of Marysville and Port Huron. When technology and devices evolved COMP advanced to an IBM compatible computer user group and the name changed to the Computer Operators of Marysville and Port Huron.
We are a diverse group whose abilities range from beginning users to skilled pros. In keeping with our philosophy of “Users Helping Users”, we share and promote knowledge of computer technology and use.
Our purpose is to:
- Enhance members' knowledge of and interest in personal computers, associated hardware and software and advances related to computers and computer related technology.
- Provide a forum for members to share computer and technological related knowledge consistent with the computer user group philosophy of "users helping users".
- Be a community resource for information about personal computers and related technology.
- Provide a social setting for those interested in computers and related technology to meet and share other interests they might have in common.
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month from September to June. Our primary focus is on Windows operated PC's with occasional looks at alternative technologies. The General Meetings include a program or demonstration that relates to topics such as software use, computer management, internet usage, email or hardware. Each monthly meeting includes a question and answer time devoted to solving PC problems.
We also hold monthly Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which are smaller meetings of members focused on one type of subject. Through the SIGs, members are able to learn how to use a product, pick-up tips, and solve specific problems. SIGs are developed as groups of members become interested in a more in-depth experience.
We are a membership based organization that welcomes the general public to attend a couple meetings to see what we have to offer. Please join us .
